The Pentacam is an advanced scanner (tomographer) for the anterior pole. It is a high-resolution ocular analyser that provides essential and precise information of the anterior segment of the eye (three-dimensional analysis, corneal pachymetry, corneal topography and cataract analysis). It facilitates an accurate diagnosis for the application of corrective measurements, as well as the necessary data to perform laser surgery

Unlike other topographers, the Pentacam analyses the corneal throughout (front and back side), which gives us valuable information when deciding to perform laser eye surgery.

Corneal Topography provides us with a series of data:

  • Corneal thickness (thin corneas).
  • Corneal surface (existence of corneal irregularities).
  • Corneal power

The study of corneal topography by elevation is the most sensitive method to rule out eye conditions that contraindicate Lasik technique.
